The idea that every place has its own unwritten rules for what “having your life together” looks like really stuck with me. Vet interesting perspective.

Growing up in the south this made me smile. I would watch my mom put on her “face” every morning at the kitchen table with a magnifying mirror on one side and normal mirror on the other. The way she put on her false eyelashes was like delicate surgery. Everyday without leaving the house once without the ritual. I like you assumed this was what grown women did. I now only occasionally put on makeup living in Portugal. I sometimes still think I “should” but those days are fewer! It’s so freeing 💫
